I've just seen in this article on InfoQ.com that Prototype is the most popular Ajax framework across the Java, .NET, and Rails communities. According to recently released survey results from Ajaxian.com, prototype is the most popular Ajax framework in use, by a large margin (45%), followed by Scriptaculous (which is built on Prototype), Dojo came 3rd (19%). 5th and 6th were DWR (12%) and moo.fx (11%).

In a blog post from Marty Andrews titled Defining software architecture roles he starts by saying that "software architect" is a heavily overloaded term in the industry and that a lot of people claim to be one. As he thinks it is source of confusion he defines three types of software architects, their roles and main focus area. The three types are:
- A System Architect, sometimes also known as an Application Architect is someone who typically designs and builds a single system.
- A Solution Architect is someone who designs and builds interactions between multiple systems to provide a solution to some business problem.
- An Enterprise Architect is someone who designs and builds interactions between multiple solutions in an organisation.
You can read the rest of the definition for the three types in his blog post.
There are different opinions and comments on the subject in this article on TheServerSide.com. As of this writing 31 comments exist on the subject.

In this blog post Chuck Jazdzewski gives some fatherly advice to new programmers. It doesn't look like any of his children will become programmers. Instead of letting his fatherly advice go to waste, he gives the advice to all of us. Even though it's not rocket science I think it's some pretty simple and good guidelines. If my son ever decides to be a programmer I will remember to pass on the advice. But it's too early to say as he is only seven weeks old by now :-)
Chuck summarizes the blog post by these six statements that you as (new) programmer should try to remember:
- Never stop learning.
- Communication is critical.
- Under promise, over deliver.
- "I was wrong."
- If it is not tested it doesn't work.
- Programming isn't your job, shipping is.
